Kara Hunsinger
Born and raised in Modesto, California, Kara discovered dance at the age of 13—a moment that forever altered the rhythm of her life. What began as movement quickly became a language, a way to translate emotion into motion, to give shape to feelings too vast for words. Dance became her sanctuary, a space to release what might otherwise remain unspoken.
Kara began her formal training at Juline’s School of dance under the direction of David Arce. She continued her journey at the University of Arizona, earning her BFA in Dance and expanding her understanding of the body as both an instrument and a storyteller.
Her path led her to Chicago through DanceWorks Chicago, where she found a city alive with artistic pulse. Since then, she has danced with multiple companies, performed with Lyric Opera of Chicago, and collaborated with visual artist Brendan Fernandes.
Now in her first season with Little Fire Artist Collective, Kara continues to move through new creative landscapes, performing works by Hanna DiLorenzo, Jessi Stegall, and Laura Baumeister. She is endlessly thankful to the LFAC artists for nurturing a space that feels less like a company and more like home.
